Positive Climate

Trailside Point is dedicated to providing a safe and respectful school environment. The Trailside Point staff believes that all students can exhibit appropriate school behaviors. Parents, students, and staff members must work together to model and teach appropriate behavior. The following matrix represents our expectations through the Panther P.A.C.T

Trailside Point uses the multi-tiered Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) framework to improve social, emotional and academic outcomes for all students. Trailside Point practices the following:

Check-In-Check-Out

Students are paired with an adult mentor. Students meet with the mentor in the morning to set a goal on a point sheet. They then check out at the end of the day to see if they met their goal. The student then takes the paper home to get signed by their parent.

Mentoring

Students spend 20-30 minutes a week with their mentor doing a preferred activity or talking about skills that the student needs to work on.

Student Advisory Board

Students in Grades 6-8 are trained in  Second Step as mentors. They then meet with K-5 students and go over lessons with them under the supervision of advisers. Students who are mentors share their experiences to help prepare the younger students for the future.

For their efforts, Trailside Point has been honored by Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports of Arizona with the Gold Achievement Award each year since 2015.
